Bridgemen Invite You To 2014 Open House

| |

Preparations are underway for the 10th Anniversary season of the Bridgemen Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps. The group is holding their annual Open House on the weekend of November 23rd and 24th at the St Andrews School on Broadway @ 4th Street where new and returning members will open a new chapter of “The Show That Never Ends”.

Executive Director, George Lavelle has structured this year’s rehearsal schedule in a way that will be more attractive to people that are interested, but just don’t have the time to do drum corps. He has also decided not to increase the membership fees. Additionally, they will continue the “abridged” membership program for people that want to do the parades and winter concerts, but choose not to be part of the field shows. By reducing the rehearsal schedule, continuing the abridged membership program and offering the lowest dues in drum corps, management feels that they have reduced the biggest obstacles that were keeping new members from joining.

Another program that has been developed is the new indoor guard that the corps has formed. Double B (Bayonne Bridgemen), has begun preparations for the 2014 competition season. The formation of this group will expose a whole new generation of potential members to the Bridgemen. While members of Double B are not required to participate in the Bridgemen, the management is hopeful that exposure to the corps sparks their interest enough that they may some day consider being part of The Big Show.

Even if marching with the corps isn’t your cup of tea, the Bridgemen would be honored if you would join them for their 10th anniversary dinner on Saturday 11/23 at 7:00 pm in the Andrean Room at St Andrews School. Tickets for this BYOB event are only $10.00 and will include a buffet style dinner, music, dancing and raffles. In addition, there will be a video montage featuring pictures of the corps taken over the last 10 years. An anniversary program will also be on hand as a souvenir of the evening.
