Thurrock Marching Brass Entertain At Parade
Thurrock Marching Brass entertained a large enthusiastic crowd at the Southend-on-Sea Lantern Parade on 1 December 2013 as they anchored outside Feelgood’s Restaurant and performed as the parade of around 1,000 lantern carriers walked from Victoria Circus, down Pier Hill and gathered outside the restaurant.
Christmas came early for the young band as the snow started to flow, which just added to the amazing atmosphere for the event. There were thousands of people packing the street and also the entire length of the Pier Hill overpass, all enjoying the music and entertainment being provided.
The band were joined by some of their staff, and everyone got into the festive spirit by wearing Christmas hats and all joined in the dancing and celebrating. The event was jointly sponsored by Southend-on-Sea Borough Council and covered by Southend Radio 105.1 and was something that all members enjoyed immensely.
The band was joined by the C-Side Crusaders band who jointly performed Have yourself a merry little Christmas, which was very well received.
Speaking of the performance, Chairman Paul Morgan comments “These are the sorts of events that really do bring a smile to all the member’s faces. Our Corps Director, Joanna Crisp, put together a small assisting team who helped with carols and to play along with the young band which went down extremely well with everyone. I was surprised at the amount of people who came along to support the event, but once again I am extremely proud to see Thurrock Marching Brass getting involved in the community like this. Congratulations to Jo, and everyone who took part in this event.”
