Reading Buccaneers To Host 10th Annual Spring Preview
The Reading Buccaneers Drum & Bugle Corps and the Twin Valley High School Band will host the 10th Annual Spring Preview, a Drum & Bugle Corps Concert, on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. The concert will take place in the Twin Valley High School auditorium, 4897 S. Twin Valley Road, Elverson, PA 19520.
The Spring Preview has become a much-anticipated mainstay of the indoor drum and bugle corps concert calendar and features some of the world’s best all-age competing and alumni corps in exhibition. The concert’s proceeds will benefit the Twin Valley High School band program and the Reading Buccaneers.
The concert will be the public’s first opportunity to hear the hometown and defending Drum Corps Associates world champion Reading Buccaneers, as the corps unveils its 2014 music program: Break on Through. The corps’ repertoire includes Break on Through (To the Other Side), by the Doors; Fourth Ballet Suite (Introduction), by Dmitri Shostakovich, Orawa, by contemporary Polish composer Wojchiech Kilar; The Heat of the Day, by the Pat Metheny Group, and original music by Buccaneers designers Mark Lortz, Johnny Trujillo and Greg Tsalikis.
In addition to the Buccaneers, guests will be treated to performances by DCA Open Class Finalists Fusion Core (Morris County, NJ), who will also debut their 2014 field show music, the Hanover Lancers (Hanover, PA), Selden Cadets (Selden, Long Island, NY), Reilly Raiders (Willow Grove, PA), New York Skyliners Alumni (New York, NY) and the Reading Buccaneers Alumni (Reading, PA).
In addition to the concert, the day presents a unique opportunity for drum corps aficionados to meet members from multiple corps and reconnect with old friends and many activity luminaries. In what has become a unique tradition of the Preview, performers will break bread together with a family style turkey dinner in the school cafeteria from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at a cost of $8. Tickets will be available on show day.
Reserved seats in the auditorium center section are $15 apiece, and general admission seats in the outside sections are $13 apiece, and will be sold at the door.
