skyliners_100x100The Skyliners Drum & Bugle Corps appeared in their first appearance of the 2014 season – a mere three months from starting regular rehearsals in January 2014 – by marching in Scranton’s renowned St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 15th.

Led by Drum Major Adam Burdett, a lifelong resident of the Scranton area, the Skyliners Drum & Bugle Corps put forth a joyous sound and looked sharp. The Skyliners’ banner boasted that they are indeed from the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area, and was followed by the American Section that included the American and Irish flags, a guard, and Captain. The Color Guard of eighteen members were indeed colorful – clad in black with scarves in Skyliner colors, green boutonnières, and performing with spinning rifles and lilac-colored flags! The guard members’ smiles and enthusiasm outshine their vibrancy and was a visual representation of the Skyliners’ energy and enthusiasm.

Thirty brass players and battery percussion of ten drummers filled the streets with the melodious strains of “Danny Boy” throughout the parade. Other members of the Skyliners were competing or marching with their high school bands.

The Skyliners Drum & Bugle Corps is very excited with the outstanding membership and the extraordinary team that we have put together for their return to the field of competition for the 2014 season. Our 2014 show, entitled “A New Dawn, A New Day”. consists of “Feelin’ Good”, “Blue Skies”, “It Ain’t Necessarily So”, “‘Round Midnight”, and we close with “Caravan”. It is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
