Govenaires Looking For Drivers, Front Ensemble Members
The Govenaires Drum and Bugle Corps’ competitive season is at its halfway point, but there’s still plenty of time to help out and become part of the group.
With the season less than two months from finishing, the St. Peter-based group is looking for drivers, both CDL and non-CDL certified, to drive busses and equipment vehicles.
On the performance side, the corps is looking for musicians that can play in the front ensemble. If you have mallet percussion experience, come and jam with us at our next rehearsals and performances.
If you are interested, you can inquire at facebook.com/govenaires, or directly contact us at either director [at] govenaires [dot] org or president [at] govenaires [dot] org.
The next area performances for the corps will happen Saturday, July 26 at the Truman Days Parade, followed by a 9 p.m. downtown Mankato performance at the Loose Moose Saloon. They will follow with a parade in Montgomery, Minn. as part of the Kolacky Days celebration.
As for the competitive season, the next show for the corps will happen Wednesday, July 30 at Harding High School in St. Paul. This will be the fourth DCI event for the Govenaires this year, followed by a fifth and final DCI show in Forest City, Iowa on Saturday, Aug. 1.
The Govies’ DCA season resumes Aug. 2 in Racine, Wisc. as part of the Kiltie Klassic competition.
Founded in 1927, the Govenaires are three-time DCA Class A champions. The St. Peter-based ensemble performs throughout Minnesota in parades and field shows. This season will culminate Labor Day weekend, at the DCA championships in Rochester, N.Y.
