In The News – Lifelong Fans Of Drum Corps Pay Tribute To The Past

Not a single parking spot could be found at Veterans Stadium Thursday night as the Drum Corps International Tour — featuring seven drum and bugle corps from across the country — competed as part of a tribute to a past when the Catholic Youth Organizers ran the corps.

Wearing Boston Crusaders t-shirts, Arlene Fraga of Norton sat in the front row with her sister Heidi Turner of Quincy. Fraga was a flag carrier in the Boston Crusaders drum and bugle corps from 1950-57. She said that during the days that the Catholic Youth Organizers ran the corps, every town used to have a drum corps, a drill team or a band.
