Presented by System Blue (a division of BDPA), the Pacific Crest and Blue Devils Experience Camp/Auditions takes place at Diamond Bar High School in Diamond Bar, California. The camp begins at 9 am on Saturday, December 13, and ends at 6 pm on Sunday, December 14, with meals served from Pacific Crest’s mobile kitchen and drum corps style gym-floor lodging provided.

For two decades, Pacific Crest has presented their December Experience Camp and Audition Weekend in Diamond Bar. More recently, System Blue has offered Blue Devils fall audition clinics in a variety of locations, including Southern California. Enrollment at both Southern California camps has increased, illustrating a growth in student demand. Rather than having two competing camps the same weekend and forcing students to choose between the two, PCYAO and BDPA are collaborating to provide an expanded opportunity for students interested in either or both corps. As an added benefit, students interested in both corps will save the cost of two auditions, as both auditions will be included in the single registration fee.

“Why make students choose?” asks Pacific Crest Executive Director Stuart Pompel. “These weekends serve as an introduction to drum corps for hundreds of Southern California students. Many of them are interested in performing with these corps. We are excited about working with Blue Devils. Imagine: two great California drum corps presenting one amazing Southern California weekend!”

During the weekend, brass and battery students will each have an opportunity to audition for Pacific Crest and Blue Devils instructors. Due to previously scheduled events, applicants for color guard, front ensemble, and drum major positions will audition only for Pacific Crest.

“The Blue Devils have always been interested in creating opportunities for students in the marching arts”, says David Gibbs CEO of BDPA . “As Southern California’s World Class corps, Pacific Crest is a leader in providing similar experiences in their region. We are excited to partner with them, leveraging the strengths of both organizations to deliver an amazing weekend of drum corps.”
