Michael Townsend Talks Guard

carolina_crown_100x100If you ask Carolina Crown Guard Designer and Caption Supervisor, Michael Townsend, what his proudest moment has been over the last twelve years working with Carolina Crown, he would tell you that it was “…just making finals that first year in 2003.”

To build a program from the very beginning and realize your ultimate goal of being the best is the pinnacle of achievement for many who work in the world of education. “There is something to be said about building a program from the bottom up,” said Michael in an interview the night before Crown was to head off to Japan for a week of performances. “That is the coolest thing. That was our goal we set as a staff (the guard staff is pictured below) back in 2003, to be one of the top corps in DCI in ten years.”
