2015 Academy Audition Camp In The Books

academy_100x100Things are just now settling down from what was a spectacular launch to the 2015 season for The Academy. The primary audition camp saw a record attendance for The Academy with just under 300 participating in the first round. 180 of those attending were residents of Arizona, and the remaining joined us from California, Colorado, Florida, Maryland, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, Canada, and Japan.

Most of the weekend featured a lot of fundamental training and technical exercises for each of the sections. Participants dove into detail the musical elements of the technique packets that the corps will reference all season long. The Colorguard focused on basic exercises as well as learned a few dance, flag, and weapon pieces as well. The brass section held intensive visual sessions, too, to get their feet moving and begin sculpting the visual program for the future members.
