In The News – Champion Drum Corp From Fort Mill Rocks Japan

Members of the Fort Mill-based Carolina Crown drum corps recently traveled across the seas for a chance to be ambassadors and coaches to band students of all ages.

Sixty-five Crown members and staff traveled to Takasaki, Japan, last fall to perform among local bands during the 2014 Takasaki Marching Festival, said Jim Coates, Carolina Crown executive director. Among them were Nation Ford High graduates Jon Witmer, a senior at USC, and Jared Best, a senior at Furman University.
