Scout House Parade And Field Show Schedule

scout_house_100x100Scout House House Band, of Cambridge, Ontario, is ready to step off on a busy summer and fall schedule including about 20 street parades and field shows across southern Ontario, Michigan and New York state.

Scout House will perform on the field during the Burlington Sound of Music Festival, the Music Under the Stars alumni exhibition in Hornell, New York; Legends Drum Corps Invitational in Troy, Michigan; the sixth annual Scout House Invitational Tattoo in Waterloo and the Drum Corps Associates (DCA) Alumni Spectacular field show in Rochester, New York.

Legends Drum Corps Invitational in Troy is a Drum Corps International (DCI) contest featuring Blue Devils B – Concord, California, Genesis – Austin, Texas, Spartans – Nashua, New Hampshire, Legends – Kalamazoo, Michigan, Music City – Nashville, Tennessee, Racine Scouts – Racine, Wisconsin, Blue Saints – Sudbury, Ontario and Jubal – Dordrecht, The Netherlands. Scout House will appear on the field in exhibition following the competing corps.

The Scout House Tattoo line up includes The Hitmen Brass Band of Rochester, New York; Thunderbirds drum and bugle corps of Erie, Pennsylvania, a Drum Corps Associates (DCA) competitive corps; Windsor Regiment drum and bugle corps from the Township of West Windsor, New Jersey, also a DCA competitive corps; Burlington Teen Tour Band; Scout House mini-corps; M.M. Robinson High School Drumline of Burlington; Scout House Cadets drum and bugle corps; United Senior Alumni drum and bugle corps of Simcoe and Scout House Band.

The Band’s new uniform will be introduced to hometown spectators during the Preston Canada Day Parade in Cambridge on July 1. The parade schedule also includes the Burlington Sound of Music Festival Grand Parade in mid June, the Oatka Festival Parade in LeRoy, New York in mid July, the Dundas Cactus Festival Parade in mid August and Christmas parades in Cambridge and Guelph.

Since the first performance in 1999, the current Scout House Band has earned more than 60 awards, certificates and prizes during more than 450 performances across Ontario, Quebec and 10 American states. The original Scout House Band flourished from 1938 to 1966, travelling extensively across eastern North America, earning more than 80 local, regional, provincial, national and international awards. The group disbanded in 1967, then came back to life in the fall of 1998 as an alumni group with the intent to perform a single concert at the spring 1999 Great Alliance of Seniors (GAS) reunion in Mississauga, Ontario.

Preston Scout House Band, Inc. is a non-profit corporation with registered charity status able to issue tax receipts to donors, incorporated under the Corporations Act of the Province of Ontario on November 29, 1956. The organization includes five units: Scout House Band, Preston Scout House Cadets youth drum and bugle corps, Scout House mini corps, Silver Leaves brass ensemble and Magic of Scout House winter guard, undefeated in its first season of competition taking high score in every caption at every contest.
