Bridgemen Tournament: A Golden Celebration

| |

bridgemen_100x100It has been 50 years since the Bridgemen first marched up Broadway. Most, if not all of those original members reserve their spot on 9th street for all the parades and make their way down to Veterans Memorial Stadium for the Annual Tournament of Stars.

Following the success of last year’s competition. The Bridgemen have, once again decided to bring competitive drum corps back to the foot of 25th st. On July 25th at 6:30 pm, three of Drum Corps Associates best will battle for the top spot in the rankings. The Hawthorne Caballeros, Fusion Core and the Long Island Sunrisers all promise to be in peak condition. Exhibitions will be performed by The Saints Brigade, The NY Skyliners and the Hawthorne Caballeros Alumni. Closing out the program will be the Golden Boys (and girls) themselves, Bayonne’s one and only Bridgemen.

Performing an entirely new program comprised of music never before played by the corps, the Bridgemen have taken giant steps musically. In addition, the corps will be fielding one of their best color guards since the alumni group was formed. This is Pageantry at its best. A must see event! One of Bayonne’s oldest and longest running traditions, the Tournament of Stars is always a magnificent way to spend a Saturday night. The cool breeze off the bay us matched by the color, excitement and crisp sounds of brass and percussion. If you’ve never been to this show, this would be the year to start attending. Tickets are $15 for adults / $10 for seniors and kids from 6 to 13. Call 862-216-2407 or send a check or money order to Bridgemen TOS at PO BOX 354 Bayonne, NJ 07002.
