Carolina Crown Honors 2015 Age-Out Class At Annual Banquet

carolina_crown_100x100The Hilton Hotel of Indianapolis again played host to the 2015 Crown banquet. Led by Crown Board President Kevin Smith and his wife Moe, Crown members and their families celebrated the remarkable 2015 season with staff, volunteers, and members of the board.

Last fall, Carolina Crown took an ensemble to Japan for the Takasaki Marching Festival. The director of the festival sent a gift to Crown this spring called a Daruma Doll. The Daruma doll is a hollow, round, Japanese traditional doll modeled after Bodhidharma, the founder of the Zen sect of Buddhism. These dolls are typically red and depict a bearded man. Daruma dolls are seen as a symbol of perseverance and good luck in the Japanese culture.
