In The News – Govenaires Heading To China
Last year was a big one for St. Peter’s Govenaires Drum and Bugle Corps.
Not only did they emerge champions of the open class at Drum Corps America (where drum and bugle corps from around the country compete), but they also booked a trip to China.
The Govenaires, following their 2016 competitive season, will board planes bound for Shanghai where they’ll march in a parade and give various performances of their annual field show. The Govenaires, originally named the St. Peter Legion Corps, dates back to 1927. In 1944, the corps changed its name to the St. Peter Drum and Bugle Corps. The corps changed it’s name in the 1960s to the Govenaires, in honor of the four Minnesota Governors who hailed from St. Peter.
