scout_house_100x100Preston Scout House Band will present its full-motion field show for the 14th time since 2002 at the Drum Corps Associates (DCA) Alumni Spectacular in Rochester, New York on Sunday, September 4. Scout House first performed in the annual event in Scranton, Pennsylvania 14 years ago, during a steady rainfall that had spectators huddling under umbrellas.

The Alumni Spectacular field show begins at 10 am in Sahlen’s Stadium, 460 Oak Street, Rochester. The downtown stadium is built on a filled-in section along the original route of the Erie Canal. This old canal bed later became the route of the city’s subway system, which stopped operating in 1956.

The alumni show is one of the high profile events during DCA’s annual Labor Day championship tournament weekend. These other events include individual and ensemble competitions and mini-corps contest Friday evening, World Drum Corps Hall of Fame induction ceremony and dinner Friday evening, preliminary contest to determine finalists in two divisions on Saturday and championship finals on Sunday evening. Ticket information for contests and the alumni field show is available from DCA at: http://dcacorps.org

DCA aims to provide performers with stimulating and rewarding social experiences, to provide a competitive outlet for performers and to entertain and excite audiences. Member corps are expected to be entertaining, unique, emotional, diverse, vibrant, spirited and energetic without sacrificing the highest level of quality. DCA encourages member corps to choose and perfect the performances vehicles that best entertain audiences and satisfy membership. Audiences should expect and receive varied programs performed at a high level of proficiency.
