New All-Age Corps Forms In NJ

| |

Highland Arts, Inc. is pleased to announce its first program, Highland Regiment, is forming now in Somerset and Hunterdon Counties, New Jersey! Highland Regiment draws its inspiration from the musical and pageantry traditions of the Scottish highlands, striking landscapes that have influenced the culture of that area for centuries. Stirring melodies and raucous rhythms combine with stalwart characters to create iconic memories known worldwide. It is these icons that the corps will reference with their sound and image.

The all-age drum and bugle corps will wear touches of tartan on their updated uniform and play traditional bagpipe melodies in parades and at key moments in their competitive program, too. The differences don’t stop there.

Corps members will benefit from training for the stage. The group will take rehearsal time to encourage improvisation and self-confidence. They will work on scenes and help each member to develop a presence that will serve them on the drill field as well as in school or business. The corps’ leaders want members to develop as people as well as performers.
The drum corps is run by a director, Philip Martin, and an administrative team. They bring decades of experience to the table and are working diligently for all aspects of our group to function successfully, on the field and off.

Highland Regiment is an entity of Highland Arts, Inc. a non-profit group which supports performing arts programs for young and young-minded people in central New Jersey.
