Thurrock Marching Brass Bringing Soundsport To Essex In 2017

thurrock_marching_brass_100x100After a successful first experience in the Drum Corps Europe (DCE) Indoor Music Games / Drum Corps International (DCI) Soundsport in 2016, Thurrock Marching Brass is excited to announce that it will be bringing this spectacle to Essex for 2017. This will see the event back in the heart of what was once a hot spot for drum and bugle corps here in the UK, Basildon, Essex on Saturday 6 May 2017.

Bringing the spectacle, where different types of performances come together in a friendly, respectful environment, we are providing a new stop for the circuit to showcase existing and new talent for the 2017 season.

The Essex show forms part of a series being held in the UK and in Europe, and each show will feature two categories, firstly DCI Soundsport followed by DCE Indoor Music Games. Both formats are aimed at encouraging new or former bands and corps to form/reform and in DCI Soundsport specifically there is no restriction on musical opportunities where any and all types of acts are encouraged to come along and entertain. All shows within this circuit are performed at indoor venues specifically set up to cater for this type of spectacle.

We would encourage all groups that would like to know more or who would like to participate in the Essex show, or any of the other shows on the circuit, to visit the Drum Corps Europe website at www.drumcorpseurope.org where registration to participate opens on Tuesday 1 November. More information regarding the IMG/DCI Soundsport Essex event can be provided by emailing info [at] thurrockmarchingbrass [dot] org.

Speaking of the IMG/DCI Soundsport Essex show, Thurrock Marching Brass Chairman, Paul Morgan comments “After an incredibly successful 2016 both within the local community and on the competition trail our youngsters were again crowned British Youth Band Association Cadet Class National Champions. As an organisation we pride ourselves in supporting all organisations that we affiliate with, and as our incredibly successful launch of Millie’s Concert in October of this year, where we raised money for incredibly worthy causes, demonstrates that we have the capacity to host, and to run important events too. Bringing the IMG/DCI Soundsport event to Essex after a really enjoyable trip to the Forest of Dean earlier this year, where we met some existing friends in a friendly and respectful environment, as well as made new friendships that are starting to bloom, means a great deal to us. We are very proud of not only our own borough, but our county as well, and in doing so we genuinely hope that we can ignite some really diverse interest in the show. Easily accessed with major road and rail transport links, and in the heartland of where Essex drum and bugle corps wowed thousands in times gone past, we are hoping to provide a platform for any alumni out there to get together, come along and have a go. We did, and we were incredibly impressed. Thank you to everyone who has supported our kids and we look forward to many more months and years of entertaining you going forwards”.
