scout_house_100x100Ventures colour guard, White Sabers drum and bugle corps and other supporters of Magic of Scout House winter guard stepped forward immediately to offer assistance following the recent theft of Magic’s trailer and all the equipment needed for this season’s North East Color Guard Circuit (NECG) contests. The replacement value of the trailer and contents is about $16,000.

The trailer had been parked at the Kitchener church where Magic practices are held, fully secured with a tongue lock and padlocks, which were found broken lying on the parking lot when members went to pick up flags for their appearance in the Cambridge Santa Claus parade the evening of Saturday November 19. Instead of performing their flag routine in front of Preston Scout House Band, Magic guard members waved and interacted with spectators.

The Ventures immediately offered flags for Magic’s participation in the town of Milton Santa Claus parade the next day. White Sabers will also be lending equipment to help Magic maintain its rehearsal schedule ahead of the first contest in Orchard Park, New York on January 28, 2017. Magic colour guard marches in a number of Christmas season parades in the Cambridge area to earn funds to help offset operating costs.

In 2005, the White Sabers returned to field competition in Drum Corps Association (DCA) Class A. The White Sabers are two-time back to back DCA Class A world champions. The corps finished seventh in DCA Open Class competition at the 2016 championship tournament in Rochester, New York.

Magic of Scout House winter guard, the current NECGC champion in its class, winning every caption and contest in two seasons of operation, received the first ever NECGC Showmanship Effectiveness Award at the 2016 championship contest in Brockport, New York in April, 2016.
