Hat-Trick Of Community Events For Thurrock Marching Brass

As well as rehearsing for their summer production, Charlie’s Chocolate Factory the youngsters at Thurrock Marching Brass have been extremely busy performing within the community. Something they pride themselves on.

First on the little local tour for the members was Corringham Primary School on 20 May 2017 where the youngsters performed to an enthusiastic audience, which had not long before taken shelter due to a heavy downfall, but lady luck was on TMB’s side on this occasion and the sun decided to make an appearance just in time for their static performance, which included a selection of parade tunes, and then a run of the summer show for everyone present.

Next on the list for the youngsters was the Arthur Bugler Primary School in Corringham on 10 June 2017 which involved a full parade into the school playing fields and into a static set up of the summer production. A great performance by all those members present and an excellent crowd cheering the performance on. A little bit of pre-setup fun with some of the staff discovering a set of medieval stocks as they each took turns to lock themselves in which had some scrambling around for the key to see if they could keep them there a bit longer ?

Lastly, our final local performance prior to the summer competition season commencing was on behalf of the Ockendon Centre, who had organised a summer get together at Dilkes Park in South Ockendon where youngsters of Thurrock Marching Brass proudly paraded into the arena within the park. They certainly let everyone know they were coming, and although a few families missing for this performance there was still the high quality of performance from all members. Our President, the Mayor of Thurrock, gave some wonderful feedback on the performance, which was well received by everyone present.

Speaking of the events and proceedings, Thurrock Marching Brass Corps Director, Jay Lindner said “It never ceases to amaze me just how talented and dedicated our youngsters are and to march and perform so well within the community. We have had kids come along and have a go as a result and they are still with us so I will work with my staff to ensure that they feel a part of the organisation and build them into the summer program, which we are working hard on. The community is incredibly important to us all here at Thurrock Marching Brass and it makes us what we are. This latest tour around the borough has really helped us to prepare for the hard work that lay ahead as we embark on a competitive season that we are really looking forward to. We have a bunch of kids that just love to perform and this year’s program not only gives them that opportunity, but also the audience participation we hope people will enjoy too. Thank you to everyone involved who make everything happen, you all know who you are and we are eternally grateful for all your efforts, and a special thanks to each and every member who turned out for these important events on our busy 2017 calendar. Let the competition fun commence!”
