Bridgemen Alumni Corps Will Return In 2018

| |

The Bridgemen Performing Arts Organization and The Bridgemen Board of Directors are proud to announce the Return of the Bridgemen Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps!

The re-re-birth of the corps will start with the formation of a Reunion Parade Corps. The corps is already confirmed to perform in the 2018 Bayonne St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which will be held on March 18th, 2018.

George Lavelle, Jr has been designated to head up this project. “I am very excited that this will be happening, I look forward to seeing many Alumni and NEW Members come out to perform for the City of Bayonne again. Lavelle also added that he would like to see this become an annual event and he hinted at the possibility of additional performances in 2018. “We have had offers to appear in additional parades next year, for now we will do Bayonne’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade and possibly one or two more parades in 2018. We will make that announcement in the coming months”.

The Reunion Parade Corps will be part of a busy weekend for the BPAO. On Saturday March 17th, 2018, the Annual Memorial Mass will be held at St. Andrew’s Church in Bayonne at 5:30pm. Following that service, the Bridgemen Hall of Fame Dinner will return to Honor those that have served, marched and participated with the Bridgemen Drum and Bugle Corps.

The Board of Directors along with the BPAO have decided that this event will return after many years of absence. “It’s a great way for anyone that has been involved with the Bridgemen to re-connect with friends and family, while honoring and thanking those who supported and promoted the Drum Corps for so many years”.

After Saturday’s events, Sunday March 18, 2018, the Bayonne Bridgemen hit the streets again by marching and performing in the Bayonne St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Lavelle also added “The Board was looking for a way to bring back not just the corps, but a way to bring back more members and families. Liz Ascough, who sits on the Board of Directors recommended the Hall of Fame Dinner and Reunion Corps weekend to increase awareness to those that have been involved with the Bridgemen and the St. Andrew’s community. Having both events together on this weekend will be a great way for everyone to connect and re-connect with new and old friends”.

Tom Maiello, Director of the Bridgemen Performing Arts Organization added that “this is just another positive event that brings the Alumni together with the Organization’s plans and new Performing Groups”.

Practices for the parade are being scheduled for February 17 & 18, 2018 but more details will be release in the coming months.

Now is the time to get back in! Everyone and Anyone that is interested in being part of the Reunion Parade Corps should contact George Lavelle, Jr. You can contact him at George [dot] Lavelle [at] bridgemenpa [dot] org
