In The News – Norwood Students Spending Summer With Spartans Drum And Bugle Corps

Greyson Griffey of Norwood has been playing music since the fourth grade, so it may surprise one when he says that his time in the Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps has been the most intense experience of his life.

Griffey—a 2017 graduate of Norwood High School—is one of four musicians from the town that recently joined the Spartans for the summer tour. The others are Amelia Wilson [mellophone], Amy Heil [trumpet], and Gabriel Labell [synthesizer]. Griffey plays the xylophone, a keyboard-like instrument that uses small mallets, and said he joined the Spartans for a more physical challenge. Part of the performances involves choreography, which is part of the rehearsals.
