Thurrock Marching Brass Bringing Indoor Music Games To Essex

Thurrock Marching Brass is delighted to once again support the Indoor Music Games circuit by hosting our second IMG show in 2018. With an enhanced structure and three distinct categories to enjoy, this year’s show looks set to be the best yet. The show will be held on 5 May in Basildon, Essex.

This year we have the added benefit of tiered seating for the show, making it even more comfortable to enjoy the performances.

If your group or team is interested in taking part please contact IMG Essex Show Director, Steve Hall at steve [at] thurrockmarchingbrass [dot] org. Entry to this year’s show for participating groups/teams is free of charge and each class is structured as follows:-

IMG Music & Movement class caters for marching bands, jazz bands, drum corps, mini-corps or any unit that would like to put on a moving musical display regardless of their makeup. Competing summer units can get valuable early reads of their productions that will be useful for their summer preparation and doesn’t need to be the fully completed production.

IMG Music Ensemble class is for groups who prefer to entertain us with a static or sit down performance including concert style, military static performance, brass bands or any other static musical performance

IMG Percussion Freestyle class is designed specifically for percussion teams to showcase their talents and can be either a static or moving performance. Any type of percussion equipment including battery and static tuned percussion plus all the myriad of other percussive instruments available are allowed.

All classes cater for Junior and Open age participating teams and access to electrical power on the day will be provided for those that need it. Performances can be a minimum of 5 minutes in length and up to a maximum of 12 minutes, which includes setting up, performing and exiting the arena.

Secondly, I am delighted to be heading up the team to bring our second Indoor Music Games Show to Essex, a heartland of amazing musical performers with a varied and enjoyable mix of styles and abilities. This year with the improved seating and full access to warm up areas now being taken care of the show is set to be the best yet. A clearer class structure is now in place to make it easier for all teams to select an appropriate section for them and in TMB’s 45 anniversary year it would be great to see as many alumni attend as possible if they are able.
