Three Preston Scout House units are tuning up for performances during the Culture Days festival in Cambridge, one of the highlights of a busy month of community involvement. Scout House Band, Scout House Cadets drum and bugle corps and Silver Leaves brass will each perform a standstill concert in Mill Race Park on the banks of the Grand River on Saturday September 29.

Culture Days is a popular annual event in communities across Canada, created in response to the growing recognition that a vibrant arts and cultural sector contributes directly to a healthy and stable society. The annual event is regarded as a Canadian model for promoting public participation and engagement that:
*Thrives on generosity, solidarity, and collaboration;
*Values the cultural life of urban and rural communities alike;
*Encourages the use of shared resources;
*Is produced with a unifying spirit, bringing together the best energies in the country.

Scout House Band will also perform in the annual tattoo staged by Preston’s Royal Canadian Legion Branch 126 on September 8 and play a Cambridge Capables Concert at the Galt Lions Club on Ainslie St. at 7 pm on September 26.

Silver Leaves Brass will perform an evening concert at Luther Village On The Park retirement community in uptown Waterloo on September 12. On September 22, the group will jump across the border to perform in a children’s service benefit concert in Batavia, New York.

All Scout House members, family and friends are invited to participate in a best-ball golf tourney and buffet dinner at Grand Valley Golf and Country Club on Saturday October 6. Tickets are $57 for golf and dinner, with $18 dinner-only tickets available for non-golfers.
