In The News – Ex-Allentown Cadets Director George Hopkins Waives Hearing On Sexual Assault Charges

George Hopkins, the former director of the renowned Allentown Cadets drum and bugle corps, appeared in a Lehigh County courtroom Tuesday morning and gave up his right to a preliminary hearing on charges he sexually assaulted two women after allegedly plying them with alcohol.

Hopkins, 62, of Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, is accused of assaulting an employee of the Cadets’ parent organization in his home on the 4100 block of Primrose Drive in Allentown in 2008. The woman said that after she had a glass of wine at his house, she began to feel like she was “floating on the ceiling,” court records say.
