Meet The 2020 Spirit Of Atlanta Brass Team

Spirit of Atlanta is excited to introduce the talented educators who will be leading our brass program for the upcoming 2020 season.

We welcome to his new role of Brass Caption Head Daniel Scott. Now in his 5th year with Spirit of Atlanta, Daniel is eager to get to work with the 44th edition of the corps as the Brass Caption Head. Daniel was a graduate of Western Carolina University where he received a BM in Trombone Performance and a minor in Bassoon, as well as a BS.Ed with a minor in psychology. Daniel is currently the Director of Bands at Swansboro High School in Swansboro, NC. In a little under 4 years, Daniel has increased the size of the program by 150% and created a culture of excellence. In 2019 Daniel was named the Swansboro High School Teacher of the Year and most recently was named the 2019-20 Onslow County Teacher of the Year for his school district. Daniel has worked with numerous award-winning programs across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, and was a performing member of The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. He is a member of the National Association for Music Educators, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity INC. In addition to the outdoor sector, Daniel was the Music Director for the WGI Open Class Winds Group, Carolina Gold Winds, which won the silver medal at the 2016 WGI World Championship.
