“Spirit Of 52” Is Preparing For The World Cup Next Year

The lockdown came a few days before the long-planned training weekend in March. Since then, all rehearsals of the Rastede show band have had to pause. With progressive easing, the young stars were able to get back to their weekly training. The “Spirit of 52” department had its first reunion since the pandemic began in late May.

Next weekend, July 11th and 12th, the first training camp of the year will be held on the village square in Wapelddorf. “Of course, taking hygiene and distance rules into account and without spectators,” as Chairman Carsten Helms says. The band is grateful to the community for the alternative training location. In the past, residents of Mühlenstraße had complained about noise from the tournament ground, where the formation tried more often. Now the show band has agreed with the local citizens’ association in Wapeldorf. “Over the past few years, we have had good experiences there without exception,” explains Helms. The trial in Rastede in May had already led to complaints and a police operation.
