Bushwackers Open House Report

| |

The Bushwackers officially launched their 2008 season with a highly successful and promising Open House at Mahwah High School on November 24.

It was an unusually chilly New Jersey day, but things were cooking in music rooms, in halls, and in a gymnasium at Mahwah High School as The Bushwackers officially began their 2008 season. Recent successes on the field and in the area of recruiting were evident in the large turnout, and all were treated to an extremely organized and exciting day.

The 2008 Administration, Staff, and Writers were introduced, and Music Director Joe Exley gave a thrilling audio-visual presentation of the 2008 Bushwackers program that had veterans and new members alike hooting and applauding from beginning to end.

The Bushwackers won six DCA Championships by being innovative and accessible at the same time. The intent of the 2008 Bushwackers is to push the envelopes in both areas with equal strength. Audiences will experience things they have not previously seen or heard on a drumcorps field, and the show will be enjoyable and will make people want to get up and dance.

Those feelings were evident in the members as they crowded into music rooms, hallways, and a gymnasium for sectional rehearsals. The two time DCA Champion Colorguard began their quest for a third title with a huge turnout, and there was excitement all around the building as each section took the first steps of a new season.a new expedition.another chance to experience what Bushwackers refer to as a "Perfect Year".

A big thank-you goes to Mahwah High School, the Mahwah School District, and Mahwah High School Director of Bands Jeff Bitner for making the successful day possible. Also, we thank those people who volunteered the time, effort, and food that were needed to make everything else happen.
