Warwick Girls Promoted To Division 2 At Colchester

The Performance Portfolio of the British Youth Band Association is pleased to announce a further promotion at Colchester Band Contest, Essex, on Sunday 23rd June, 2008.

With immediate effect, the unit listed is promoted as follows:-

Warwick Girls from Division 3 to Division 2.

Paul Cartwright, Chair of Performance said, "following hot on the heels of three earlier promotions, this is a great achievement for one of BYBA’s finest show bands, and a stalwart of the British Youth Band Association". He went onto say, "the bar is now raised not just for those promoted, but for the remainder of Divisions 2 and 3, and the Junior Division as we move into July, with a higher promotion breakpoint, and just two further opportunities for movement".

On hearing the news, Carly March, Bandmaster for Warwick Girls said, "I’m really pleased with the Girls performance this year which has resulted in them being promoted. It’s been a real team effort and thank you to all involved. We will endeavour to rise to the occasion and the challenge that Division 2 will bring for us."

So the promotions thus far, really are making our competing units sit up and take notice, whilst the wider movement is looking on with interest at the UK’s premier Marching Arts Association.
