2010 Cadets Audition/Experience Camp Report

It was a long trek from Madison, Ala. But for 16-year-old Joshua Young, the trip to Woodstown, N.J., was something of a long-time dream. Since middle school, the trumpet player has worked toward taking part in his first experience camp with the Cadets. This past weekend, he was among more than 200 attendees checking out what it takes to be a member of a World Class drum corps.

“He learned about the Cadets in middle school, and ever since he started watching the tapes, he has really wanted this,” said Jana Young, Joshua’s mother who tagged along to volunteer for the weekend. “I’ve tried to get him to understand…this is a learning experience. You are with the cream of the crop here, and to understand how much he can learn while he’s here.”
