Velvet Knights Announce 2011 Drum Majors

The Velvet Knights Drum and Bugle Corps is proud to announce and welcome their 2011 Drum Majors who will lead the corps once again into a new journey this summer………….PLAY BALL!!!!!!!!!!!

Savannah Gucwa is a junior at Orange Lutheran High School. She participates in the marching band as saxophone section leader and is looking forward to being the band’s drum major next year. She also participates in the school’s Jazz I Ensemble and has participated in its Hand Bell Choir. In addition to music, she has been awarded High Honor Roll for each semester during her freshman, sophomore, and junior years for academic excellence, is enrolled in the STEM program, and has been honored for her participation and achievement in the Team America Rocketry Challenge.

Benny Yamagata Jr. is seventeen years old and lives in the city of Cypress. He’s marched for the past four years with the John F. Kennedy Shamrock Regiment. This is his first year in drum corps. “I’m excited to get out there and see my fellow marchers who all share a passion for music and the art of marching. This year will be one of the best years that Drum Corps and VK have ever had, I guarantee it!”
