Meet The 2019 Cadets Drum Majors

| |

The Cadets are excited to introduce the drum majors for the 2019 season! Loren Gregory will be returning for her second season as a drum major with The Cadets, and she is joined this year by Daniel Regalado and Chris Martinez. The drum major selection process renewed with vigor back in November with 15 total auditions for the drum major positions. Each drum major was selected for their shown leadership skills and conducting ability.

“We had some really tough choices to make when it came to selecting a drum major,” said Scott Litzenberg, Director of The Cadets. “We are thrilled that Loren is returning to the podium this season, and Daniel and Chris really round out the team into something special. Their group dynamic and leadership qualities will really lead the corps through the 2019 season.”

Loren Gregory is 19 years old and resides in the Houston, TX area. This will be her second summer serving as a drum major for The Cadets. She is a business major at the University of Houston-Clear Lake and is a visual and drum major tech for several high schools in her area. She is so excited to be a part of the 85th edition of The Cadets!

Daniel Regalado will be serving as a drum major this year in his 6th year with one of the Cadet programs. He played mellophone with Cadets2 in 2014-15 and has been with The Cadets since 2016. Originally from Severna Park, MD, he is currently a Music Education major at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. He enjoys capturing the beauty of life in photography, exploring the vast outdoors, but most of all spending quality time with people. If he could share one thing with everyone, it’s a quote his uncle said to him, “Things are to be used, not loved. People are to be loved, not used.”

Chris Martinez is a saxophonist and Music Education major at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. He currently teaches on the staff of the James Bowie High School Outdoor Performing Ensemble from Austin, TX and has been a private lesson instructor in the San Antonio area. He serves as President of the Texas State University chapter of Collegiate Texas Music Educators and is an active chamber musician as the tenor saxophonist of the Noctem Quartet. Previously, he served as drum major for Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps in 2017, and drum major for the Texas State University Bobcat Marching Band in 2018. This will be his first year with the Cadets and his age-out season.
