IMG Anthem – Unity would like to officially welcome the seven times DCI World Champions to the IMG Anthem – Unity team and thank them for their support for the project.

The World’s Number One Brass Band Cory Band under the direction of Philip Harper, composer of the IMG Anthem – Unity, have already set the stage for this project after recording the very first ‘virtual’ world premiere of the Brass Band version of the piece on May 23 2020.

Today, we are more than excited to welcome officially the seven times DCI World Champions, the Cavaliers who will now be creating a virtual performance for the Marching & Performing Arts version of Philip Harper’s original composition.

Speaking of this exciting news, IMG Chairman, Andy Hewlett commented “The Cory Band’s world premiere has given us as good a start to the project as we could have ever hoped for. But just when we thought that things couldn’t get any better, this special project has yet again shown that it is resonating across the world and at the very highest levels too. To have the seven times DCI World Champions, the Cavaliers, joining us is just incredible and we can’t thank them enough for their support. I very much look forward to seeing the presentation which will showcase the Marching Arts world version of Philip’s composition. Thank you Monte Mast, Executive Director of the Cavaliers for getting involved.”

Composer of the music and Musical Director of Cory Band Philip Harper commented: “The addition of The Cavaliers to the team is so exciting and I can’t wait to hear what they make of my music. This now creates a very special Trans-Atlantic feel to the project and it’s sure to be of huge interest to the Marching Band community to have such a world-class organisation providing the exemplar of this version.”

The Cavaliers Executive Director, Monte Mast said “It was great to virtually meet IMG’s Paul Morgan recently after being made aware of the project through mutual friends and a member of our design team. As an organization we think this is a unique and incredibly rewarding project for not just our own members, but students of music from all ensembles and parts of the world. The two worlds of Brass/Concert Bands and Marching Arts performers share so many similarities but rarely have the opportunity to share the same stage, even if it is a virtual one. Our brass recently performed with leading symphony players at the Midwest Clinic and this collaboration provides an even greater audience to show the talent of our members. After meeting with Paul and hearing the incredible structure that is in place for this project, we were honoured to be asked to participate. The Cavaliers are thrilled to be able to support and help to grow this really inspiring idea.”
