What Is Happening With Drum Corps United Kingdom In 2021?

| |

The Board of DCUK has recently met with their member Corps and part of these discussions were to get an idea of what Corps are planning as the COVID restrictions start to get relaxed. It was very pleasing to hear that most are looking to start “live” rehearsals very shortly which, whilst maybe not as intense as normal for this time of year, will see most working on some form of show that can be performed in 2021.

As a result of these discussions work is now commencing on creating a live event in late Summer/early Autumn to enable Corps to showcase themselves, especially incorporating SoundSport & DrumLine Battle which are both ideally suited for our current situation, and once again be able to perform in public. Preliminary investigations had already been made at a number of venues previous to the meeting and so we hope to be able to release more details about this event very soon.

So what’s next?

Summer 2022 was discussed with the Corps and we are extremely pleased and excited to announce that the plan will be to, once again, host 4 contests plus, on Saturday 17th September, the British Drum Corps Championships will return.

In addition preliminary talks have commenced between all the European Drum Corps Partners for a European Drum Corps Championships event on Saturday 24th September 2022 – watch this space for more news.

It is still early days but it is all looking more positive than it has for over a year and so “Let’s Get Ready”.
