Classic Drum Corps Alliance Inaugural Event
Saturday, March 22 at the Knights of Columbus in Avenel, N.J. saw the premier event sponsored under the auspices of the recently formed Classic Drum Corps Alliance (CDCA) – The New York Skyliners Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps I&E.
This is hopefully the first of many shows/events to be held and sponsored by the CDCA – a self-governing, autonomous circuit operating independent of the DCI/DCA organizations.
The Classic Drum Corps Alliance mission is to preserve and perpetuate traditional, classic drum and bugle corps, and is a collaborative effort of interested alumni corps, mini corps, and ensembles. The circuit’s plan is to promote and hold traditional indoor/outdoor drum corps exhibitions featuring member units in a reciprocal arrangement to maximize exposure and participation.
The New York Skyliners Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps I&E was a tremendous success and featured some of the areas finest brass and percussion groups/corps which included:
Bridgemen Brass,- Tri Valley Brass,
- New Wave Drum Corps,
- Buccaneers Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps,
- Warriors Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps,
- and the host – New York Skyliners Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps.
Additionally, there were many fine individual performances as well as duets, trios, quartets, etc. of brass, percussion, and rifle. The entire event was run smoothly and efficiently thanks to full cooperation of all involved.
The New York Skyliners Alumni look forward to hosting this I&E event new year.
