In The News: Sarnia Drum Corps Recall Glory Years, Reunion Planned

Looking back, Cheryl Upfold says it was the best time of her life.

The 65-year-old Guelph woman spent nine years in Sarnia playing bugle with the Lionettes, one of at least five drum corps that existed in Sarnia between the 1940s and 1980s.

“In the summertime we practised just about every day because we had competitions and parades to go into,” Upfold said. “We formed some very, very strong friendships and we stood up with each other in weddings.
