Cadets New Food Truck Is Here

| |

After a 1,000 mile journey from Houston, Texas, YEA! and The Cadets staff driver John Keegan arrived in Allentown this week with a freshly painted trailer, ready for it’s grand makeover into the mobile kitchen truck that will serve The Cadets for many years to come.

Thanks to almost 400 donations this past holiday season, The Cadets will take the road with a vehicle complete with the best kitchen appliances and safety apparatus necessary to allow our volunteers to prepare meals in the most convenient and efficient way possible.

Bill Speakman and his team of volunteers have been working on this project over the past several months and provide us with the following updates on the progress. Check out the schematics showing of the all-new 2017 food trailer!

“The Hood/Fire Suppression System an Cooler/Freezer Box are on order and expected to be here in about two weeks. Thanks to alumnus Adam Caltrider and his employees (Wasserstrom), we have received GREAT prices on brand new, top-of-the-line Garland cooking equipment. Thanks to the generosity of Jay Travis’ employer, serious construction should begin on the weekend of March 11/12 at the Ace Robins Co. lot at 4022 SR6E, Tunkhannock, PA.

On the weekend of March 11-12 construction will begin on the rear bulkhead, build out of doorways/entryways, and floors and wall coverings. Over the course of the month, the propane tanks will also be installed. During March 24-25, the hood and ductwork will be installed, as well as the construction and installation of the cooler box. On April 3, the trailer will head to Thermo King in Philadelphia for the installation of the refrigeration system.”

The Volunteer Food Truck Construction team will need as much help as they can get March 11-12 and March 24-25 to keep the construction of the truck on schedule. If you’re interested in lending a hand, please email Bill Speakman at innkeeper [at] springfieldhousebb [dot] com.
