Cambridge continues longstanding tradition of Scout House support

| |

The City of Cambridge is providing a $1,200 community program grant to continue its support for the activities of Preston Scout House Band Inc. The annual grant matches the 2024 award from the city, extending municipal support for Scout House Band activities that dates back to the 1940s, when the Town of Preston first began providing financial aid. (Preston amalgamated with the towns of Galt, Blair and Hespeler to become the new city of Cambridge more than 50 years ago.)
The current active Scout House Band unit is Silver Leaves Brass, an all-age award winning brass ensemble scheduled to appear in 20 area parades and concerts this year. The performance schedule began with the annual Victoria Day parade in Woodstock on May 19 and winds up December 13 with an evening Santa Claus parade in St. George. The Silver Leaves will perform in 15 different communities across southern Ontario this year.

In addition to the City of Cambridge, Scout House community partners include Waterloo Region Community Foundation, Kitchener Access Storage, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 530 Waterloo and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 126 Preston.

Preston Scout House Band Inc. is a non-profit corporation with registered charity status able to issue tax receipts to donors, incorporated under the Corporations Act of the Province of Ontario on November 29, 1956.
