Preston Scout House Band receives Fisher family annual grant
Preston Scout House Band Inc. is receiving a $1,700 grant from the William and Vera Fisher Family Fund, received through the Waterloo Region Community Foundation (WRCF), to help support ongoing operations.
The $1,700 grant matches last year’s donation, bringing total Fisher family funding over the past 17 years to more than $19,700. The fund was established in 2008 to support Preston Scout House Band and two other local organizations in perpetuity. The Fisher grant comes just a few weeks after Scout House received a $1,200 grant from the City of Cambridge, continuing the municipal support that began with the Town of Preston in the 1940s.
The WRCF collaborates with partners to ensure communities in Waterloo Region are equitable, connected, and sustainable; and people are thriving. WRCF connects regionally and locally, working with the three cities and four townships making up the regional municipality. WRCF uses a philanthropic approach to develop innovative solutions and act on opportunities to meet current and future needs of the community.
The WRCF also provided major funding for Scout House Cadets drum and bugle corps before the group became inactive following the COVID pandemic shutdown of many area music activities.
In addition to the city and WRCF Scout House is supported by community partners including Kitchener Access Storage, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 530 Waterloo and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 126 Preston.
Preston Scout House Band Inc. is a non-profit corporation with registered charity status able to issue tax receipts to donors, incorporated under the Corporations Act of the Province of Ontario on November 29, 1956.
