Working With One Of Canada’s Best
Catching up on a story we put out for DCI on the Montreal championship in ’82. I really enjoyed working with Canadian jazz man Rob McConnell but never fully appreciated his talent and accomplishments until working on this look back. Rob’s Boss Brass was a tight group that earned international acclaim playing his original charts and arrangements. Rob was revered by musicians in Canada according to Bluecoats arranger Doug Thrower, who played with McConnell (and shared a beer with him) while in college in Toronto.
