Midwest International Music Tattoo
The very first Midwest International Music Tattoo will take place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25, and at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2006, at the Northern Illinois University Convocation Center, 1525 West Lincoln Highway, DeKalb, Ill.
Patterned after the great Edinburgh Tattoo (Scotland) and the Nova Scotia Tattoo, this indoor musical pageant is a major tourism event for northern Illinois as well as the entire Midwest region. The other major North American tattoo is the Virginia Arts Tattoo which attracts thousands of visitors.
The Heartland International Tattoo is the first indoor musical pageant of its kind in the Midwest.
Performers include the United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps from Washington D.C.; Great Lakes – U.S. Navy Marching Band; the 8th Trenton Regiment Bagpipe Band (Canada); the Illinois Prairie Brass Band (national champions); the McNulty Irish Dancers (IL); the Highland Regimental Battalion Rifles (IL); Northern Illinois University R.O.T.C. Honor guard; St. Andrew Society Pipe Band (IL); Thistle & Heather Highland Dancers (IL); Chicago Highlanders Pipe Band (IL); Marine Living Memorial Honor Guard (WISC).; Northern Illinois University Steel Drum Band; United States Coast Guard Silent Drill Team (VA).
