Final attendance figures have been calculated from the July 29, Coltrin & Associates DCI Southeastern Championship in Atlanta, Ga. The paid attendance of 15,831 establishes a new official attendance record for a Drum Corps International major regional event, eclipsing the previous record of 14,089, set just a year ago in San Antonio, Texas. A crowd of about 3,000 filled Roger Harring Stadium and roared with screams and yells. Much of the crowd stayed around after the scores were announced as the Blue Stars performed an encore standstill show and the stadium erupted again with ovations. Read the rest of the article here.

Next week some 5,000 drum-and-bugle corps members will take a turn on the Camp Randall Stadium’s field, competing in an activity that requires endurance, coordination and wildly perfect timing. Jimmy Fursman has resigned his position as Interim Executive Director of the Seattle Cascades. Instead he will be devoting his energies to taking Rhapsody Winter Color Guard to new heights. In Rhapsody’s first year it was undefeated in 2006, operating under NYMA. Read the rest of the article here.
