FaithHopeLoveGuard Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 I originally posted this in the color guard planet forum since the book I mention is very color guard specific, but seeing as how I am looking for more general books about marching band, drum corps, dance, and any performance art as well I thought I might re-share here and get some more replies... I have noticed that pleasure-reading books about the marching arts seems to be a growing genre, and I am incredibly interested to read about the experiences of others in the field. One book that has come out recently is a fictional story about color guard. I bought a copy to keep at our rehearsal facility and nearly all of my guard students have read it now with lots of praise! It is called "Spinsation" by the author J.M. Hope and I recommend it for junior high to high school aged students. Paperback copies unfortunately run a little on the high priced side, with new copies from Amazon right around $20, but if you have a Kindle you can download it for a mere $0.99! You can find it here http://www.amazon.com/Spinsation-Learning-Breathe-J-M-Hope/dp/1469146541/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333485403&sr=8-1, from Barnes & Noble , or from various other book dealers. Anybody else have any recommendations? Do you know anyone who is publishing anything? My students don't all like to read a whole lot, however most of them finish books about dance or color guard pretty quickly because they are interested. I have seen some books on drum corps online, do you think teens might be interested there? Quote
