  1. Saturday, May 25th - Parry 200 Parade starting at 1PM in Erie, PA. The parade will include Cadets, Scout House, Toronto Signals, Blue Saints, Mighty St Joes, Ghost Riders, Mon Valley Express, Steel City Ambassadors and the Erie Thunderbirds. Pre-parade concert by 4 of the corps starts at 11:45 "on the street" near 12th and Liberty. Post-parade concert by 5 of the corps starts at 5PM in Parry Square, on the stage near 6th and State street. The concerts will be recorded by DCA Fan Network and made available for a week of video on demand. Please make the trip to Erie this weekend and then watch it on the DCA web site.
  2. Just so there is no confusion next weekend, the SDCA show orginally planned for May 12th, 2012 in Emlenton, PA will not take place this year and has been moved to next year for July 2013. We could not get enough PA corps ready to go for a May show and it was too late to reschedule for this year, so it is now on the books as a July show for next year. Since there is a show in Simcoe, Ontario the same day this year, this will now not take away from some of their potential audience. So go to the Simcoe, Ontario show this Saturday. The first SDCA show in the East will be on June 16th in DuBois, PA. This show has 6 corps and is already paid for, so there are no tickets. It is free and open to the public. Please mark June 16th on your calendar and plan to be there.
  3. Did anyone see this show and want to post a review?
  4. Steel City Ambassadors Grey Knights White Sabers Mon Valley Express Keystone Regiment Lake Effect The show will start at 2PM as part of the June 16th DuBois, PA Festival. There will be a parade following the show to begin at 5PM. This show is free to the public and paid for by the DuBois Firemen who are the hosts to the parade, this show and the Festival. This will be the first ever SDCA show in Pennsylvania. DuBois is about 1 hour east of the I-79/I-80 junction, right off I-80. I hope all of you will be there. We will be using audience judging, bring your smart phones. This will be a lot of fun.
  5. The SDCA had a regional meeting in Erie PA for the 2012 season. Corps represented at the meeting represented corps in Indianapolis, Western PA and Western NY. Current efforts are now focusing on creating show venues in Indianapolis, the Pittsburgh area, western PA (I-80 general area), the Erie PA area, the southwestern NY state area, the Buffalo-Niagara area and the Rochester NY area. If you represent a corps, a band, or a parade sponsor and you would like to host a small drum corps / minicorps / ensamble show in any of those areas or points further east, please contact me at SDCAcorso@yahoo.com or Chris Ferrara at SDCAferrara@yahoo.com. The show format is your choice, these shows can be on stage, on a basketball court, or on a football field (between the 35's and in front of the first hash marks), depending on the time of year and the weather on that day. Marching is not required, but "visual staging" of some kind is strongly encourgaged. SDCA will do most of the organizing, we just need the names of contact people, locations and dates and we will take it from there. All alumni corps, minicorps, and brass or precussion ensamble are encouraged to contact us. I hope to hear from some of you in this area and I hope to hear from those of you that want to extend this project to points further east.
  6. Thanks everyone for showing up. I was really pleased with the meeting. I'll keep you posted on our progress. Work is now in progress to create show venues.
  7. The Small Drum Corps, Association (SDCA) will have its first ever Regional Meeting for the East and Eastern Midwest in Erie PA on Saturday November 5th at 10AM. All corps directors in the area and show organizers are welcome. Contact me at SDCAcorso@yahoo.com or Chris Ferrara at SDCAferrara@yahoo.com for more information. We should have more half a dozen corps in Western PA and Western NY represented at the meeting. It would be great to have even more corps from points East (New England and East Coast) as well as points West (Ohio, Indiana, Michigan). The shows will feature Mini-corps and small corps. If you run a parade and need corps and would like to have a show follow the parade, please either let us know or please come to the meeting. Shows can be on stage, basketball courts or outside between the 30's. This should be a lot of fun. Please participate and help get this new circut started. Please let us know about your enthusiasm for this new activity if you are a member in a corps in this area. Tom
