capitalbrass Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 (edited) The new Capital Brass Parade Corps DEBUTS March 13th: in Hoosick Falls, NY St. Patrick's Day Parade. The new CB! Parade Corps will be sized to meet the budget of each Parade sponsor; performing with 15-20 players.... a small, corps-style unit to compliment our SNAP! Jazz Ensemble, which has been performing in parades since 2008. Hoosick Falls has hired our minimum-sized group. But the entertainment level will be far from small, as we will present a hot little ensemble filled with seasoned players. Most of the same players will perform the next day, in the Kingston St. Pat's parade, with an all-brass version of SNAP!. The line-up for the corps is nearly complete; including some heavy-weight players...., with enough performers to fill out the corps in venues both large and small; and to allow for subs as needed. Send an e-mail, asap, if you have interest in one of our few open roster spots. Welcome! ..to the trumpet line: Tony Gambaro (Avant Garde Alumnus; Out of Control R&B Band, Tower of Power, Burners UK, Blues Other Brothers, Alex Torres, New York Players) Current line-up for the Parade Corps: Trumpets: Andrew Bisnett Tony Gambaro Terry Gordon Kevin Hendrick Terry Stoliker Scott Thompson Fred Young Jeff Young Mellophone/Horn: Bill Davis Paul MacDonald Tom MacDonald Baritone: Mike Blair Shaun Bazylewicz Bryan Brundige Amy Giamettai Bill Hoeprich Arron Koffman Tuba: Bryan Bee Drums: Steve Candlin Rob Cenci Gene Garone Chris Rowlands updated list 3/4 Edited March 4, 2010 by capitalbrass Quote

capitalbrass Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 (edited) Personnel is now filled out for the first few dates. But we may need a couple of players for later gigs. Those spots will fill up fast (really!), so step up now, if you have interest in playing with us this year. 20 years ago, Capitol Brass Ensemble built a huge reputation for quality entertainment, in local parades and festivals. Our objective is to resume that tradition, by developing the new Capital Brass! Parade Corps as the premier parade music group in our region; and have a blast doing it! We are open to developing a working guard to perform with us. If you have interest in performing and/or assisting in building a guard for parades, get in touch. capitalbrass Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 Great plan of attack Tom ... plus, the additon of Tony Gambaro is huge. Thanks Tom. We think we have a solid plan to make this happen, and plenty of experience doing this kind of thing. We'll all find out soon how well we can execute it. Quote
capitalbrass Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 Looks like a party is gonna happen at Chris Rowland's place after the Hoosick Falls parade, on the 13th! Great way to kick off the new parade corps. Turns out we'll have a bit of overkill in the trumpet line; with Scott Thompson, Terry Gordon, Kevin Hendrick, Tony Gambaro, Andrew Bisnett and Terry Stoliker all booked for the gig. With too many trumpets on the roster, I've been pushed off to the Mello line with my son. Oh well, I still get in on the fun. Quote
capitalbrass Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) Having a "mini" parade corps was our original intention, when we re-started CB! in 2006. We immediately got a little side-tracked in some other directions (most of which continue to be very much worthwhile), but we're back to seeing thru on the original idea. The Genisis of this parade corps came over 15 years ago.... out of the ashes of the old field corps. A brief history is posted in the DCA Historical area. BTW: Although we were out of the drum corps game for some time, our organization, morphing thru NC/CBE/BOM!/CB!, has now been providing Live, all-acoustic music entertainment for a continuous string of 25 years, in 2010! ... just sayin' Edited February 23, 2010 by capitalbrass Quote
capitalbrass Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 (edited) We're very happy that we continue to get interest in participating in our debut Parade Corps performance, Unfortunately, we've been hired to provide a small-ish group in Hoosick Falls. We've added a couple more horns to that one, and will try to accomodate everyone who is interested, in future events. There will be plenty more gigs, and fun, to go around this year! Stay tuned! capitalbrass Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 (edited) Playlist for our first parade, sure to be crowd-pleasers:Danny Boy Late in the Evening Everybody's Everything Peter Gunn Received a couple of questions on this: NO. This is not the music we will perform in Auburn on 3/7. We will present a completely different program in Auburn; which will feature two brand-new mini-sets, plus a couple of CB! standards. I know that I confuse things, with the various forms of our group...... Capital Brass! is our small, CORE group of musicians, who rehearse weekly and perform in concerts and contests thoughout the year. The CB! Parade Corps will include these players, PLUS additional players who want to perform with us in parades. The parade music will consist of a limited number of selections, drawn from our existing CB! book. SNAP! is a hybrid group; made up of players from CB! and Brass-O-Mania!, formed to do parade and park-type gigs. It's really a much simpler plan than it sounds like. capitalbrass Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 (edited) Next Saturday... March 13th, in Hoosick Falls, NY!!! Not sure it should be legal... Scott Thompson and Tony Gambaro, screaming on the same gig.... plus Andrew Bisnett, Terry Gordon, Kevin Hendrick and Terry Stoliker in the trumpet section! The other sections won't be filled with slouches either. The small, but mighty, CB! Parade Corps will rock the streets with some fun tunes in our debut next week!
