  1. sorry to have missed you last nite Jeff......had a great time with many old friends, associates and former students....it was good to get out.....finally.....looking forward to your take on Bucs......I would have had them slightly higher, but understand the spreads, for a first look I was impressed and to me at least they made huge strides to catch Cabs.....had a ball

  2. just to support what Ray, Andy and Fran said.....Gene was a friend and mentor to all. He liked sharing thoughts and views with all and I knew Gene as a judge who mentored me in visual aspects of judging.....he ill be missed by all who knew him and for those that did not have the pleasure to meet him: please say a prayer for Gene and his family for he truly was a man put on this earth by God to educate and share his love for this activity............Godspeed Gene.....you will be missed.....love ya

  3. as my grandfather used to say: "#### yeah".....don't remember this piece, but the flugal part sounds doable....even with those intervallic pops....really dig the transition of the mid and low range voices thru the cresc....swooning wit rupture I yam.....and know the perfect tpt for the soli stuff w/flugal before the reprise.....like we always said" "good music played well will sell anywhere", so 'Bugle Call Rag' would be a fun chart for JSC2et ux, et al to perform

I've been called many things over the years, but this would be the first time anyone has called me 'Sir' anything.....even Sir Little #### .

  4. so Don said: "hashtag; hashtag; hashtag; hashtag"......just what the heck does that mean? AND congrats to the erudite Mr. Peashey for his latest effort......guess me and Ray gotta learn how to read......will they be coming out on tape???? how about movies???? I'm talking big bucks here Tom.....how about starring roles????? will Fran narrate the prologues?????

  5. great new my no longer hirstute friend.....man, with the possible additions of Kevin, Dan, Ray and Connor, even on an if-they-can-make-it basis would be icing on the cake....I'll start contacting folks from the original group....still occasionally communicate with Bob Kogut and Scott Friend is still in Ct......I believe it's logistically possible. Plus, given the available talent in BHOF for those members who would like to participate at any of the BHOF indoor shows, it would be a gas.

I have an arrangement of 'Basically"... from the Air Force "Airmen of Note" jazzband that we were using with my big band....not much difrent from your chart 'cept scored for legitimate instruments.

Mind is turning for a full 'book', but I had to stop when the "Greatest Hits" reached 1.479 ......oy veh......

  6. well now, oh guru of the pattyflafla.....I would surely put supreme effort into such a venture....after all half of the entrants at the resurrected DCA I&E event were Archie folks included in the JSC 'mixed ensemble', so it would be a second nature endeavor I should opine (OK Pepe, I'll stop the big woids).....it might inspire some others to participate also.....

  7. #### sam!!!!!! I be all up for a reprise of Joe Schultz Cadets...I think Dan Fitz and Bob Gaff would be interested....possible to get the guys from Ct. guys??? if John is up to it would love to reprise his conga parts on 'Basically Blues' ......I'm so excited I could touch myself inappropriately but not if my Sadie is around for I shall marry her when I grow up......so Mr. Priester, I will elucidate and speak with specificity where duplicitous names could be misconstrued (ya sure Pepe used big words like dese?)

oh, Andy, ya want a piece of candy?????

  9. just saw this thread Jim and felt that I was compelled to contribute my 2 cents. I was born into drum corps. My father and his siblings (Al and Evelyn) were members of Sgt. Hamilton Fish Post VFW in Philly. My first competition was 1949 Nationals at Municipal Stadium in Philly. Was always taken to local parades and contests and still have some old photos from those days

    Man.....I must be really old
