Re: BK, I don't know why, but I like the show much better on video. Saw it last might in Nashville and was underwhelmed, but tonight on Flo I'm all about it.

The red and pink equipment (rifles, noodles, dots) just don't read visibly enough. Although that may be a plus with the noodles because they're still not reading clean. Their motion seems just a bit too unpredictable for the guard members to get the level of control over them to do what's envisioned.
Outside of flags, I think they get the most visual punch from the Eye of Horus things during Hide and Seek. They are quite effective.

This side to side feature blew my freaking mind live.
I don't think it comes across on video but it is amazing in person.

There is some wonderful drill happening in this show!

If I had to assemble an all star corps for this year Blue Stars mellos would be on it. Incredible clarity and tone on everything they play.
They are lovely, and nicely showcased.

Yeah but all the comments about shadows, sun, and wind make me realize I'm old enough to remember when this was exclusively an outdoor activity. ;)
And prelims were an all day affair starting at the crack of dawn.

I REALLY like this Cascades show. Can't wait to see it in person.

Well, that was impressive! Looks the whole visual program took a step up from last year. I thought the drill was more complex and sophisticated than what I remember. Guard did pretty well fighting the wind and are obviously talented.

Hey, back at the hotel and wanted to finish up with thoughts of Phantom. I enjoy the show and appreciate the risks, especially in taking the visual to a new direction. As someone said in an earlier thread, this seems like their first show in a few years that doesn't feel kind of generic. It certainly is distinctive. I look forward to another viewing. Nice job!

Ah, okay. I was pretty sure it was a corps proper uniform spinning in the middle.

Granted, I'm a perennial Cadet-lover, but, they are so GOOD. After seeing them at the premiere i just didn't think they'd ever get this accomplished. Marching is on point, hornline is great, drums are super great and guard is pretty amazing. The show has too much Mass in Mass. I.e. it's for too much of the theatre piece in it. I would have rather they presented it as a symphonic usage of the piece.

Go Cadets!!!
Tough following Devils, but do this thing!

First time seeing devils live and despite my better judgement I'm buying what they're selling. However, I dont agree with their astronomical visual scores when there is so little marching. Other than guard and battery, who do march, there isn't a lot of sustance. Guard is amazing. The bass or subwoofer made it so I really couldnt enjoy the show. I would give them a 1.2 in GE Music and reprimand the doing engineer. It was offensive. That is all.

BD, OMG turn down the bass. It's drowning out the real horns.

They roll the props from right to left with a guard member spinning inside and they end in a huge V.
I think it's horn players inside and guard pushing.

SCV is amazing. I'll leave it at that. A level I haven't seen yet this year.

Good show, Cavaliers. Horn line is much better than the last time I heard them. Marching is great, guard had way too many breaks, given their obvious skill. They will need to get way more consistent if they want to challenge for best guard.

I was blown away last night with how much better it's gotten. Video doesn't do them justice.
