They are supposed to represent directions and barriers that can drive where one goes in life.
Thank you. I kind of got the barriers, holding people back, being entwined by..uh...things.

Crossmen's have a very entertaining show. Powerful hornline. I like all the musical selections. Guard is good. I have no idea what the props are about. Other than a point when they box in the hornline I don't get what they represent. Like the show, overall.

So the Boston hype is not just hype. They are really, REALLY good. I'm sure I've never heard a Crusaders hornline this good. All sections of the corps are strong. Guard is excellent. I'm sold on the show as well. Might be my favorite (at least that I've seen). Wow!

I would be posting photos as well but I can't figure out how on Android. I'll add them later if I can.

They apparently didn't use them tonight, but they do have 15 circular tarps, each ten yards in diameter, that they spread out three apiece on the 50, 30, and 10 yard lines. The flags they used in their closer have the same or very similar images as those that appear on the tarps.
Okay, got it. I expect I'll see them on Friday in Muncie (show #4).

Interesting. It worked pretty well for Buccaneers in DCA last year.
Personally, I'm fine with shows having no "concept" at all, or with using the concept very loosely just to hang some great performances on. But once it feels like there should be more, if there isn't, then that's trouble.
I agree. I'm fine with none at all, but I think if you're going to commit to one you need to carry it through. I'm just not sure where Colts are going with theirs.

Very impressed by Troopers! Whoda thunk you'd ever hear the Troopers play Nessum Dorma? And it was GLORIOUS. Like the simple approach to the visual. No props, just marching and playing. Everything looks very crisp between the guard in all red and the corps proper. Horns sound amazing. Show is challenging and has plenty if room to grow and refine.

Like Colts new uniform. Glad to see them back in red. Show is nice. Big guard look pretty good. The left brain - right brain thing seems a little thin for a show concept. I'm not sure the closer is complete. It seems there's not a lot of marching going on. Hopefully more to come that will flesh out the theme. Great trombone soloist!

I know it's only one day, but Pioneer look way cleaner than last night. Guard looked much more confident. Props to Pioneer for keeping on. Wish they could find some more brass members. Horns are quite weak.

You must enjoy the DCI activity being at your 3rd show. Boston much improved this year. Enjoy.
Yes, I'm quite the fan. Can't wait for Boston! I'm usually down for a dark, brooding show. Also, just bought a Waldo shirt.

Guess that class a title brings them in.Cincinnati Tradition look twice the size of last year.
Show is much more engaging than last year. Much improved group. Hopefully they will continue to build.

Greetings from Hamilton. We're 5 days into the season and this is my 3rd show. I feel like the DCI equivalent to a Dead Head (so, a drum head?) Low 70s right now so if the rain stays away this will be a good night for drum corps. I'm especially excited to see Crusaders.

What visual risks? Having a poorly designed visual show, a poorly written drill, and two minutes (plus) in a row were there is no drill is not taking risks, it's just being stupid.
I don't know you but you seem like a very unpleasant person. I'm one of the most calm people around and you have managed to get under my skin.

Wish I could hear any of what the trombones where playing but it was basically all choir in the theater. Not sure about this show yet. I'm sure it's a better design than last year though.
It was not like that in person. Choir was not overpowering the brass.

I'm totally on board with Cadets show. Can't wait till the ending is added. And I'm totally digging the skirts.

In terms of sheer difficulty, it's just night and day. Especially in the guard and drill
Agree. I think Crossmen's execution was higher tonight but Blue Stars' show is more demanding. Horns sound very mature with very good controlled sound.

I'm not quite sold on Crossmen's show but the hornline is POWERFUL. Look and sound very good for the first show.

Cavaliers are strong. Plenty to look at, plenty to like. I was entertained.
