The most disappointing show of the year. They've lost their "Southern Roots" and need to return to it. They may still be from Atlanta but have totally lost the Spirit. 32 counts of "Georgia on my Mind" at the beginning of the show is a must to begin the re-hab........

These guys are Dutch--fun folk to be around, actually.

This is unbelievable. Only about half the line was let in between pioneer and Troopers. So, we still aren't inside. Horrible management. We got here before Pioneer started.
I'm guessing they can only let people in as fast as people are moving...

With their new color scheme, my vote is for Crown. There's something about that particular palette that sparks the imagination for this material.
I would also like them to vary the programming, too, a la Phantom and Spartacus--maybe some R.W. Smith, but accompanied by other material as well. There's plenty out there that could be a good fit!

Well those sure look familiar.. http://www.jolesch.com/smalls/75092/77/75092-077-022S.jpg
Which group is that? I'm not as familiar with the national high school scene.
Gracias!

I would love to hear Phantom play "Amazing Grace" once again... Could never figure out why they put that one away.

And where do you propose it go in Chicago? I've more than once laid out the reasons Soldier Field would be a negative experience...from traffic, to the prohibitive cost of labor compared to other cities, to the much larger problem with housing sites outside the city and the time it would take to get into Soldier Field (and why no corps would want to stay in Chicago itself), to the fact that Soldier Field is the smallest stadium in the NFL. Chicago is just not viable.
I'm with you all the way there, Boo, but even so...
I can't help but wonder what kind of acoustic environment it would yield. Something tells me it would be fantastic.

Please and thank you, Garfield!
Any further education is much appreciated.

Let's see if this works.... Posting the picture, I mean.

It is not 'raiding' when a person chooses to move to another corps... it is personal choice of the person making the decision.
Agreed. I have always wondered why this has been so, both historically and currently so prevalent.
C2 started as a local weekend nontouring corps aimed primarily at HS students in a commutable distance to the Lehigh Valley area. In their very first year they placed 5th at DCA champs.
They also had the brand and organizational strength of the maroon and gold behind them.
Perhaps there's a correlation? And how does this phenomenon help the activity in terms of new units forming?

To quote an old video game meme, "I hear it's amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork does a raw blink on Hara-Kiri Rock. I need scissors! 61!"
I was a North American Fall Webworm in my past life. Ahhh, those were the good old days... What were you in your former life?

Bravo, Matt! I too love that venue. There's something about that particular combo of intimacy and acoustics that make it a great place to perform or see a show.
Among my most recent memories of that venue were SCV's company front in 2009....

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

Agreed, btw--both DCI and individual corps should be tapping the various states' marching band finals.
-
Fascinating.
I know in the past, the de facto Illinois state championships have had either print ads, or physical table presence, by a number of corps. I can recall sporadic representation over the years by the Cavaliers, Phantom, Madison, Blue Stars, Colts, and Glassmen, if not others.
-
Sweet! I can hear it already.
-
You understand that the corps in question have legitimate concerns and legitimate ideas to secure a stronger future not just for their own corps but for all corps
Has there been mention of looking out for ALL corps from these organizations?
Honest question.

Rated five stars, Garfield! Thanks again for shining light on things for us unenlightened

I am reminded of a Chops, Inc. show... "Would You Like Some Fries With That Shake?"

Take a close look at the flashback montage as they introduce this tradition--and count the different DCI uniforms you can spot!
Happy early Thanksgiving DCP!
