  3. Atlanta CV Drum and Bugle Corps is proud to announce its scholarship offerings for 2015. Out of remembrance of friends lost and in appreciation for our community, CorpsVets, Inc. offers several scholarships each year to help performers offset the cost of tuition for various marching and scholastic undertakings.

Jason Lowe Memorial Scholarship - The Jason Lowe Scholarship honors the memory of Jason Lowe, a young CV member and drum corps enthusiast who passed from cancer in the summer of 2001. Jason’s brave spirit and enthusiasm for this activity touched many. To honor Jason’s memory, a scholarship of $250 to offset the expense of member tuition is offered to marching members of any DCI corps.

Lisa Abney Scholarship - The Lisa Abney scholarship honors the inter-corps relationship between Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps and Atlanta CV as well as the memory of Lisa Abney. Lisa was the spouse of Spirit alum and former CV member Jeff Abney and she was a strong supporter of both Spirit and CV. To honor Lisa’s memory, a scholarship of $250 is offered for a member of the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps to help offset their tuition costs.

Interested performers must submit an essay describing why they should be considered for these scholarships to scholarships@atlantacv.org by Friday, April 24, 2015.

  5. FYI, seedings are done by the highest score in the season, not just August.

I think someone posted the seedings order in a different thread.

Good work on this and best of luck to all competing corps.

    Dave

Rankings by highest score in August:

    Open Class:

    1 - 96.30 - Buccaneers

    2 - 94.15 - Minnesota Brass

    3 - 93.80 - Caballeros

    4 - 92.85 - Cadets²

    5 - 89.95 - Atlanta CV

    6 - 89.70 - Fusion Core

    7 - 89.05 - Empire Statesmen

    8 - 85.35 - Bushwackers

    9 - 83.50 - Carolina Gold

    10- 81.05 - Connecticut Hurricanes

    11- 80.65 - Kilties

    12- 79.50 - Long Island Sunrisers

    Class A:

    1 - 85.90 - Govenaires

    2 - 84.55 - White Sabers

    3 - 77.50 - Windsor Regiment

    4 - 76.35 - Sun Devils

    5 - 74.65 - Cincinnati Tradition

    6 - 74.20 - Tampa Bay Thunder

    7 - 73.40 - High Country Brass

    8 - 73.35 - Heartliner

    9 - 71.45 - Excelsior

    10- 70.95 - Shenandoah Sound

    11- 67.00 - Centurions

    12- No score - Lakeshoremen

As far as I know, this is the criteria DCA will use to determine the order of appearance for Prelims on Saturday. However, this is by no means intended to be an official lineup. There may be some nuances or exceptions that I am personally not aware of.

  6. Four Yamaha timpani. Feature cast-aluminum suspension frames and fiberglass bowl.

    Prices:

26" drum (has damage on the rim): $50

    23" drum: $200

    29" drum: $200

    32" drum: $200

Bought new in 2001, only used with DCA rehearsal/practice schedule.

Will take $600 for all drums or make offer. Need to sell to make room for other equipment. Pick up in Atlanta area for free. Shipping would be your cost.

  7. As an Annapolis pub crawler myself, City Dock will be the place to be for food and drink that weekend. Dozens of restaurants and bars... Middleton's, McGarvey's, Federal House, O'Brien's, Buddy's, Armadillo's, Castlebay are all great pubs right on the waterfront. On a budget, Armadillo's runs two-for-one drinks quite often. Galway Bay is the best Irish pub in Annapolis, and the owner was instrumental in getting the City of Annapolis on board for DCA's. Please stop in and thank Anthony (the owner) for that. Rams Head is a bit pricey, but has the best selection of beers and the best live music. Breakfast at Chick'n'Ruth's deli is great. Sunday brunch at Buddy's is legendary.

The Westfield Annapolis Mall has a traditional food court, but it also has a dozen or so "satellite" restaurants that are great. Cheesecake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen, Applebee's, Romano's Macaroni Grill... plus the restaurant park right across the street with Famous Dave's BBQ, Fuddrucker's, Red Lobster, etc.

    Jeff

Everyone will sell themselves short if they don't go to the city dock area while they are in town. And tour the Naval Academy. I think anyone can still walk onto The Yard (USNA campus)and check it out, right Jeff? And you can still visit the crypt of John Paul Jones I believe. All stuff you should see.

Don't go to D.C. or Baltimore, start in Annapolis right there downtown. If you finish with Annapolis, then head to D.C. or Baltimore.

  8. Atlanta CV Drum & Bugle Corps debuted their 2012 production "God Save The Queen" Saturday June 30, 2012 at Roswell HS. Performing in shorts and shirts instead of uniforms because of heat in excess of 100 degrees all weekend, CV introduced family and friends to the show that features classics from Shostakovich, Walton and Elgar juxtaposed with music from iconic rock group Queen. It's Royalty... redefined!

Hope you enjoy! First competition is this weekend in Nokesville, VA!

  9. Thanks for all the info guys. Yes, I am (or was) a tenor player, but haven't touched em' since my freshman year of college. I'm pretty busy, but I didn't know the details of a mini-corps and figured I'd look it up. I'll go for anything at this point...20 (nearing 21) and want to march somewhere.

Atlanta CV has a vibe spot, a contra spot and one guard spot. Camp this weekend.

Come on out! Feel free to PM for information.

  10. This is a very important rehearsal weekend for CV-XV. Final spots will be filled, lines will be set, and even more new music will be ready for our 2012 production "God Save The Queen" This season is progressing like no other in CV's 15-year history, and it's one you do NOT want to miss. Please RSVP to info@atlantacv.org or on our facebook page CV March Rehearsal Camp I and let us know your attendance status for the weekend - especially if this will be your first camp attended. Don't be left out!

See the website or FB page for details!! www.atlantaCV.org and www.facebook.com/AtlantaCorpsVets
