Is this the first time in Boston's history as a DCI corps that they beat Phantom Regiment?
They bet them at finals in 2000.
-
Why aren't the gmen performing tonight?
-
Is the part so critical that they can't pull out one of their current members?
Speculation would be that since they aren't using a current guard member, it is a VERY limited part. It really would not be fair to take someone who has learned the whole show and make them be a villian for a few 30 second moments.
-
I guess when they walked through the storm they held their heads up high.
Aw come on, don't blame me, someone had to say it.
-
I voted "no" because I think it will be Allentown.
-
I say you are ALL right!
-
I believe if Phantom Regiment had Boston's show, they'd probably be running right up on the top 4 right now.
You give them Boston's show with a reprise of the Regiment version of "Bachanale" from 91, and they'd be a threat to BD again (... if they came into Indy with the same fire under their butts like last year).
I hadn't thought of that but I agree with Brad. (Brad, might be a good new topic to be discussed).

I was wrong (close but no cigar). Who were the seven correct voters?
-
It is interesting that as of right now at least:
* Cadets, Crown and Vanguard all have a number of votes for strong design and few votes for weak design; so most agree that these three are enjoyable shows.
* Cavaliers aren't getting many votes either way.
* Bluecoats have no votes for strongest design, but lead in weakest design
* Blue Devils - the current leader - has a lot of votes for strong design, but also a lot of votes for weakest design - this is very interesting to me
It seems people are voting for which corps they like (and loathe) rather than just evaluating the strength of the designs this year. I have a feeling a poll for who are you favorite and least favorite corps would have about the same numbers.

Scouts close that 2.5 gap from 12th to 1.85 in Denton. Baby steps but moving the right direction.
-
Now I'm sad.
Getem next year guys.
-
The only thing that would make it better is if they booed the announcements!
Yeah that's not going to happen in Texas. The Scouts love to perform in the Northeast because they boo if they think your score is too low!
-
So this tells me that....3 years in...the instructional staff needs a change...specifically in the area of marching and technique.
This is the first year for the Visual Caption Head (and also the guard caption head). Maybe we should give them a little more than half a season before firing them.
I was at the show last night; it was great! I overheard the people around me, who did not seem to be associated with any particular corps, saying what a step up the Scouts were from all of the corps before them (two of which scored higher). It's not a popularity contest, I think the judges are about right but I still think the Scouts can hit 12th with this show.
The crowd only groaned disapproval at two score announcements, Scouts and SCV.

Are Ties allowed anymore or has there been a Rules Change since 00 that gives more weight to a certain caption score that ultimately decides said winner?
That only applied to 1st place AND they did away with that this off-season. Ties are back.

If I was a band director at a major program, I would be attempting to find out this kids contact info to stash in my BlackBerry until he graduates.
Great review.

I guess the Cavies echo will be staged and real.

Time is not our friend and Madison is currently on a much tougher road to hoe then they were at this time last year............and this is supposedly with a "much better" product.
While I was disappointed in the broadcast tonight AND I was hoping to be at a much higher level this year than last, they are really about where they were last year. They put a new closer in right before Denver, it was a mess and they got a 73.475 putting them in 16th. This year; new closer; mess; 74.550; 14th.
It seems that they are choosing this "method" of putting in the real closer a couple of weeks before the first big regional and it worked last year in the end. I guess that encouraged them to do it again.
I will agree there should be concern. I don't like this year's closer. BUT, I don't think finals are a further reach after Denver in 2009 than they were in 2008.

Right-click, and go to zoom, and it should show a full-screen option.
Thanks. That worked.
-
Mine is absolutely clear, even on the full screen. They must be using a lot of bandwidth for this.
How do you get full screen?
-
So the way i understand this is the webcast for me will start at 8. Illinois here central is that right?no should be 715 Central
Well, you are both right. The webcast begins are 7:15 Central, first corps is at 8:00 Central.
-
I'll be there both days!
-
I think your method is the most logical way to estimate but how has your ranking the day before the first regional compared to the actual regional scores? I'm not questioning your method just wondering if there is ANY method that is a good projection since scores change so much even from show to show.

hmmmm, I hear you brasso and I really don't disagree. It will surely be the the winners' "year" for sure. But historically, it WILL be Crown's year (not comparing their season to other corps' year but to Crown's own history) if they make Top 3. They have already added to their own corp history by winning 9 straight competitions and besting the Cavaliers for the first time ever.
In this thread we are considering that it might be Blue Stars year, Troopers year, or Pioneers year without winning but that Crown has to win for it to be their year. I get that it would not be SCV's year without a win because they've already won the whole thing. But Crown? They haven't even been in the top 3.
I think it is quite a compliment to Crown that winning is the only way it is considered "their year." That speaks volumes about the expectations for the corps. While they certainly weren't guaranteed to finish 2nd or 3rd this year, it was not above most peoples' perception of where the corps could land.
I would say that fans don't want it to be "Crown's year"” if they finish 2nd or 3rd. If I see a Countdown in 2019 where Rondinaro says, "Crown’s 2009 2nd place finish was a banner year for them," then I know there was never a championship.
Aim high!

Take out the and/or on #5 and make it or, then I'll vote for #5. Otherwise, I hope for most of these but expect none.

Scouts have 10 show in the next 12 days. Some FMMs like that, some don't. What did you like?
